(July 19, 2013 — New York, NY) – Although released last year on Entertainment One Music/Knockout Entertainment, the single “Don’t Drop That Thun Thun,” by Los Angeles’ The Finatticz, has returned with a vengeance to be a sleeper hit of the summer! The infectious song has gone from being a West Coast favorite to a Top 20 best selling song overall on iTunes.
Even after a strong initial run at radio with over 10,000 spins nationwide, the digital single and music video enjoyed impressive ongoing sales at iTunes, and millions of streaming plays on VEVO, Youtube, Spotify and elsewhere. Already a certified viral phenomenon, the song was perfectly poised to explode when the popular Vine user-generated video sharing app for iOS and Android was recently upgraded with web sharing and new homepage features that enabled users to easily discover and view the most popular and “on the rise” videos on their smartphones.
Almost immediately, Vine videos by dance teams and other users with the #thunthun and “dontdropit” hashtags began to spread like wildfire on Vine and Instagram video sharing apps. As view counts skyrocketed and huge numbers of new videos were created and shared, sales on iTunes exploded literally overnight, and have grown steadily since then.
The single is available on iTunes, with over 250,000 singles sold to date, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The group's original music video for the song has been viewed over 5 million times on YouTube.
The FiNaTTicZ formed in 2009. Members Killa F, Jayarah the Truth, EZ the Great and Nyce describe their presence on the music scene as a representation of original west coast gangster rap with new school swagger and flavor.
